Huntsville, Ala. (WTVM) - Huntsville, Alabama is known as a space town, but it’s also an Army town. And there’s something unique at one park. There are tanks parked outside a museum there with a history of its own.

Not every park has those big vehicles in the middle of it, but John Hunt Park in Huntsville is home to a museum focused on military veterans.

Larry Bayer, the director of exhibits at the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum, said “They are going to be walking into a wide range of history.”

He says this collection of military artifacts ranging from the Revolutionary War to now was put on display for the first time back in 2001 on Veterans Day.

“This is an education facility. We bring students in here and teach them about their military history,” Bayer said.
