AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Teachers and parents from Greendale Elementary School addressed the Aiken County Board of Education Tuesday night about a foul smell that has disrupted classes and forced some teachers to evacuate their classrooms.
News 12 first learned about the concerns last week when parents reached out.
“I love the culture at Greendale. I love how it feels to be at Greendale,” said Holly Sharpe, a Greendale teacher.
Hall said the smell became worse when maintenance workers began moving vinyl tiles in her classroom.
“The entire classroom, my classroom and my neighbors, smell like rotten fish. When maintenance came in and started moving the vinyl tiles around, the smell got dramatically worse,” Hall said.
The district says moisture under the tiled floors mixed with adhesive
