KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The section of Pleasant Ridge Road from Merchant Drive to the city limits is phase II of the improvement project. The Knoxville City Council approved the project in July, saying it's an area leaders and neighbors have wanted improved.
Haden Wesley lives right off Pleasant Ridge. He said that while improvements are needed, the city's approach isn't making the road any safer.
"If there's an accident, the cars pile up, and it's like a cattle chute. There's nowhere to go at all. So, when the emergency services come, whether it's for that specific wreck or something else. It adds minutes and minutes. That can be someone's life," he said.
