GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ring doorbell video from a Neighbor captured the shots that rang out near the intersection of Adams St. SE and Blaine Ave. SE in southeast Grand Rapids.

It happened just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday when a senior officer and a rookie stopped someone who they believed was connected to a gun theft.

“That individual fired multiple shots at the officers, who then fired and returned," said Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom. "Miraculously, no one was struck by gunfire.”

The 18-year-old suspect then ran away. Multiple agencies showed up to assist in finding the suspect, including Michigan State Police.

“Officers that responded for backup were able to locate this individual, place him in custody,” Winstrom said.
