GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - One Veteran from Gainesville is back home after having the honor of attending Monday’s 250th Marine Corps Birthday Ball in Philadelphia.
Retired Marine Staff Sergeant Thomas Scribner says it was an honor to meet Marines from all over the world, but especially a living Medal of Honor recipient.
“It’s a chance to remember my brothers, and sisters, and those that came before me, and to pay the respects and the honors to them,” Scribner shared.
Scribner says Veterans Day is his favorite holiday, and this year it’s even more special because he got to meet Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient Colonel Harvey Barnum.
“Definitely in the presence of a true hero,” Scribner said.
