BETHLEHEM — Maddy Witt shocked Mount Saint Joseph’s defense with an early goal, and Palmyra High School’s defense was Ziploc tight over the remaining 56 minutes.

The result was the Cougars returning to the PIAA Class 2A field hockey championship game for the third time in the last four years after their 1-0 semifinal victory over the Magic on Tuesday night at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium on the campus of Liberty High School.

Palmyra, the District 3 champion, will oppose defending state champion Warwick for the gold medal at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field. Warwick, the District 3 runner-up, ousted Unionville, the fourth-place team from District 1, 3-0, in the other semifinal.
