WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Warner Robins' new homeless shelter opened its doors sooner than expected not for a grand opening, but out of necessity.
With temperatures dropping this week, city leaders decided to welcome people inside early. The move marks a significant step for a project that’s been years in the making.
Inside Haven Hope House, relief replaces the harsh streets. People who once fought to survive the cold can now find safety, warmth, and a bed to call their own.
“These people that open these doors have opened new life for us. We are walking dead out there,” Margaret Nielsen said.
Nielsen has lived on the streets for nearly a decade. She said this emergency shelter could mean the difference between life and death.
