DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - CrossFit gyms in the Twin Ports and across the country participated in a grueling workout Tuesday to honor veterans and raise awareness about mental health challenges that many former service members experience.

The workout consists of 1,000 box step-ups and is named “Chad” after Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson who died by suicide in 2018 after suffering from PTSD. Members at Zenith Athletics in Duluth joined the nationwide workout.

“It is more of a mental thing because it’s like, holy moly. I have to do so many of these step ups, but it doesn’t amount to what they’ve been through,” said Zenith Athletics owner Matt Kaitchuck.
