Hundreds of community members gathered at Stride Place for the 2025 Remembrance Day service, marking a significant turnout to honour the service and sacrifice of Canadian veterans.

The ceremony, organized by the Portage la Prairie Royal Canadian Legion, included the laying of 54 wreaths and featured a large parade composed of military, emergency, and youth organizations.

Bob Oldford, Service Officer and Past President of the Portage Legion, expressed gratitude for the community’s impressive attendance.

“I felt it went very well, and I’m very thankful for those that have helped in participating and getting the service together,” Oldford said. “It means that this community understands the importance of remembrance.”
