BEAUMONT, Texas — With Thanksgiving right around the corner, one Southeast Texas nonprofit is gearing up to make sure families in need have a reason to celebrate.

Some Other Place is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving Store Program, which provides low-income families with all the ingredients they need for a holiday meal.

Program leaders say the need is growing this year, 450 families applied to receive food through the program.

Now that applications have closed, the organization says it’s in need of more food donations to meet that demand.

“There’s never enough donations,” said Kaitlin McCarter, special projects director at Some Other Place. “Anytime people bring more, we just add it to what we can give back into the community.”
