Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reaffirmed India’s long-term sporting vision on Tuesday, declaring that the country aims to become one of the top-five sporting nations in the world by 2047, as he unveiled the King’s Baton for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games at a vibrant ceremony in New Delhi.

“Today, India is hosting world-class tournaments and winning medals across disciplines. We will continue to grow in sports and by 2036, India will be among the top-10 medal winners globally. By 2047, when India marks 100 years of independence, we will be among the top-five sporting nations," said Mandaviya.
