A 37-year-old man was arrested Saturday, Nov. 8, after he allegedly assaulted people and caused a disturbance in downtown Monroe .
Police officers were called to 120 East Front St. shortly before 6:30 p.m. to a report of disturbances at local establishments.
Staff told officers that the suspect had been "disorderly" in the premises and had reportedly assaulted several individuals, according to the Monroe Public Safety Department. Officers located the suspect near the Riverwalk, where police said he refused repeated orders to remove his hands from his pockets, gave a fake name, and resisted arrest. He had to be physically subdued so officers could put cuffs on him.
