DALY CITY – A house caught fire Tuesday morning in Daly City, injuring a resident and a firefighter, fire officials said.
The fire broke out around 8:35 a.m. in the first block of Mateo Avenue, according to the North County Fire Authority.
Crews arrived to find the first floor of a two-story home filled with heavy smoke and a bedroom in flames, fire officials said. They put out the fire while searching the residence.
One resident suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to an area hospital, fire officials said. A firefighter was also taken to an area hospital with an injured knee.
The fire displaced 11 residents and two cats. They received assistance through the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
