FARGO — A North Dakota healthcare provider is being recognized for its support of military members.

Essentia Health has been named a military friendly employer.

Their programs include salary support for active-duty service members, a crisis line dedicated to veterans and their families and initiatives to assist with financial challenges or parenting needs.

Officials say even small acts of support for military families are significant.

"Bringing them meals and, you know, being available to them for support, you know, shoveling their walks, whatever might need to get done while their service member's away," said John Higgins, vice president of talent management at Essentia Health.

Higgins said the honor applies to every hospital and clinic within the Essentia Health system.
