NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Members of the union representing nurses at Roger Williams and Fatima hospitals called on state leaders Tuesday to get a deal done with Centurion to keep the hospitals open.
According to the union, McKee and HHS Secretary Richard Charest are “unlawfully interfering with the Centurion deal.”
The facilities are in the process of being sold by Prospect Medical Holdings to the Centurion Foundation.
A spokesperson for the union says the governor and health secretary are pursuing other possible buyers, including Prime HealthCare, at the expense of getting the current deal done.
Governor McKee’s office said his focus is on keeping the hospital open, regardless of who the buyer is, and that he has let union leadership know that.
