A not-for-profit conservation group has defended submissions it made against a central Queensland wind farm project, after it was accused of using artificial intelligence, and referencing projects, reports and various government agencies that did not exist.

Earlier this year, Rainforest Reserves Australia (RRA) made submissions against the proposed $1 billion Moonlight Range Wind Farm, 40 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton, which was axed by the state government in May .

At the time, the government said it cancelled the project because it had strong local opposition, and it did not meet the requirements of new planning laws for renewable energy projects.

The project had been approved by the State Assessment and Referral Agency in December 2024.
