NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- In the North Royalton school board race -- like in the North Royalton City Council races -- Republicans were swept out of office.
On Nov. 4, independent candidate Bridget Wu and registered Republican Michelle Bauer, who ran as an independent, handily defeated incumbents Jeremiah Sawyer and Lisa Shuck, both of whom were seeking second four-year terms.
“We engaged with residents in North Royalton and Broadview Heights, as well as local leaders, to learn about everyone’s experience with the school board,” Bauer said in an email to cleveland.com.
“The key to success was our positive campaign that allowed for voters of any party to support us,” Bauer said.
Bauer and Wu ran as a slate , as did staunch Republicans Sawyer and Shuck.
