Srinagar- In one of the largest coordinated crackdowns in recent years, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday conducted raids at around 500 locations across the Valley linked to terrorist associates and members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and other proscribed organisations.
Officials said the extensive operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs suggesting attempts by JeI-linked elements to revive their organisational activities through covert fronts.
Raids were carried out simultaneously across all 10 districts of the Kashmir Valley — Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian — targeting the residences and premises of JeI members and their associates.
