The Eastern New Mexico Medical Center's Senior Circle hosted a Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday to honor locals who served in the U.S. Military and their families.
Many of the approximately 50 people in attendance seemed deeply moved by a short video presentation about the creation of the poem “Star Spangled Banner,” by Francis Scott Key, which today is the basis for our National Anthem. Several attendees commented they were unfamiliar with the events during the War of 1812 which moved Key to put his words into verse.
