Nineteen years after the remains of 22 children were pulled out of a drain in Noida, the families who had waited for justice for nearly two decades were left devastated. On November 11, the Supreme Court acquitted the lone convict in, Surinder Koli, in the last case against him, citing lack of proof.

The case was of rape and murder of a teenage girl. For the girl’s father and mother, now 63 and 60 respectively, the verdict opens old wounds and leaves them with the question - who killed their daughter?

"Did ghost kill our children?," mother of the victim questioned.

Between 200-2006, bones, skulls, children’s clothes and slippers were dug up behind bungalow number D-5, Sector 31, Noida, labelled as The House of Horrors. Collectively these killings were termed as Nithari killings.
