Delhi's Red Fort blast investigation has been escalated to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) following the tragic incident on November 10, which resulted in at least 13 fatalities and numerous injuries. The blast occurred when a Haryana-registered car exploded near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Initial investigations suggest a possible terror link, as the car was owned by Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a Kashmir-based doctor with connections to a recently dismantled terror module in Faridabad.

The NIA has formed a special 10-member team, led by ADG Vijay Sakhare, to delve deeper into the case. This decision came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. The NIA's involvement is crucial as it has the authority to probe offenses that threaten national security, including terrorism-related activities.

Dr. Umar Un Nabi, who is suspected to have been driving the car at the time of the explosion, has been missing since the arrests of two other doctors linked to the Faridabad terror module. Investigators believe he may have executed the blast following the arrests of his associates. His family has been called for DNA testing to confirm if he was among the deceased, as six of the 13 bodies remain unidentified.

Authorities are examining over 1,000 CCTV footage clips and monitoring social media activity to trace the movements of Dr. Umar and his associates. The investigation has revealed that the car was last in the possession of Dr. Umar, who had been working in Faridabad for three years. The police suspect that he may have transported explosives from a rented room in Faridabad to carry out the attack in Delhi.

In response to the blast, security has been heightened across Delhi and in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai. The NIA's takeover of the investigation is expected to enhance coordination among various law enforcement agencies and expedite the probe into potential terror links. The government has vowed to bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi assuring that no effort will be spared in the investigation.
