Western Australia's environmental regulator has decided not to assess plans to expand Perth's ferry services on the Swan River, despite pressure from the public.
The state government's $107 million proposal to expand its Metronet projects to the river includes plans for a jetty and ferry terminal to connect services from Matilda Bay and Applecross to a floating pontoon at Elizabeth Quay.
The Environmental Protection Authority was asked to consider a number of potential impacts, including what might happen to marine life from underwater noise emissions during the construction of the jetties.
But the EPA ruled it unnecessary.
The EPA did acknowledge there will be some potential environmental impacts from the construction period and as a result of the clearing of seagrasses.
