Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday to meet the victims of the recent Red Fort blast. This visit came shortly after his return from Bhutan. The explosion, which occurred near the Lal Quila metro station on Monday evening, has resulted in a rising death toll, now confirmed at 13, with over 30 individuals injured.
During his visit, PM Modi interacted with the injured, inquired about their treatment, and wished them a speedy recovery. He was briefed by doctors and hospital officials regarding the medical conditions of the victims. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice, stating, "Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice!"
The blast, which took place at 6:55 PM, involved a white Hyundai i20 car and caused significant damage, igniting several vehicles in the vicinity. Initial investigations revealed severe injuries among the victims, including broken bones and head trauma, consistent with a high-intensity explosion. Forensic teams are currently analyzing samples to determine the type of explosive used.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the investigation, which has now entered its third day. Authorities are searching for additional suspects linked to the attack, believed to be associated with the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Security agencies are reviewing CCTV footage to track the movements of the suspect's vehicle prior to the explosion.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also visited the hospital earlier to oversee the treatment of the injured. Multiple agencies, including the NIA and Delhi Police, are conducting extensive raids across various states to apprehend the suspects involved in this tragic incident. The investigation has been formally registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
