The Rockford Rescue Mission is seeking community support during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which runs Nov. 9-15.
The annual event aims to bring people together to address the challenges of hunger and homelessness, according to a community announcement.
"Families living in poverty have to make tough decisions regarding their limited resources," Sherry Pitney, CEO of the Rockford Rescue Mission,, said in the announcement. "They're often forced to choose between buying food and paying the rent, or covering the cost of utilities, clothing and medical care."
