Steelton Borough police cited a borough councilwoman with punching her boyfriend in September.

But the citation was filed under a name Julianna Paioletti hadn’t used in years, obscuring the charges from public view.

That discrepancy, along with delays in the release of public documents related to the case, are raising concerns about a lack of government transparency in the handling of Paioletti’s case.

Paioletti, 43, faces a summary count of harassment by physical contact for punching her boyfriend on Sept. 14. She’s disputing the citation and taking it to summary trial next week.

“It was a domestic dispute, an argument, and that is that,” Paioletti said, questioning why the case was newsworthy.
