SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police officers shot a man pointing a semi-automatic handgun at citizens Tuesday evening, according to the Akron Police Union’s Facebook page.
The shooting happened Tuesday evening on Albrecht Avenue.
When officers arrived on scene, they said they encountered “an uncooperative individual and were forced to make a split-second decision to ensure their own safety and that of the community.”
The condition and name of the man has not been released.
Agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) also responded and are assisting in the investigation.
