Company to expand food production with $14.5M initiative in Akron

Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America is planning a roughly $14.5 million expansion of its stocks, broths and sauces operations in Akron.

The plans inspired a city initiative to redevelop the immediate area surrounding the business.

City officials are seeking tax increment financing to apply for development at the business and the area around it.

Itasca, Illinois-based Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America , wholly owned by Ajinomoto Co., in 2023 purchased the More Than Gourmet business that was founded in Akron in 1993.
