Before we get into why Dan Campbell has a blind spot, if not an outright weakness, for hiring offensive coordinators, this much has to be said: The Detroit Lions coach deserves untold credit for making an excruciating decision that might have saved the season.

When you consider where the Lions were before Sunday, Nov. 9 (5-3, in second place in their division and coming off a bad home loss to Minnesota ), a win at Washington was not only necessary but crucial.
