For Michiganders who shop for individual health insurance, this year's open enrollment period could be the most frustrating in the history of the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare."
Three insurance companies are dropping out of the individual insurance market in 2026 — HAP CareSource, Molina and Physician Health Plan, also known as University of Michigan Health Plan — and a fourth, Meridian, is ending coverage for metro Detroiters, although keeping it for others. Collectively, the four insurers currently cover over 200,000 Michiganders.
