Top-seeded Emerson Boro and fourth-seeded North Warren played through regulation and overtime to have a 0-0 tie in the semifinals of the North 1, Group 1 tournament, in Emerson. The Cavs came out on top 3-2 in the penalty shootout to advance to the sectional final.
Emerson (14-9-2) will face second-seeded Waldwick in the championship game on Friday. The two NJIC - Colonial division rivals are 2-2 against each other this season. Waldwick defeated the Cavs 2-1 on Oct 8 and Emerson bested the Warriors 2-1 on Sept 15.
Ryan Leone buried the game-winning penalty.
Brayden Blanken made five saves for the Cavs.
North Warren ends the season with a 14-5-2 record.
