CHIKKAMAGALUR: Afraid that he would be scolded by his father for consuming alcohol, a 13-year-old boy committed suicide at Melpal village near Balehonnur in NR Pura taluk. The deceased was identified a Pravachan.

Pravachan was a Class 9 student at the government high school in the vllage. He had attended a wedding ceremony in the village with his family when he consumed alcohol with his friends.

Worried that his father would scold him for drinking, he hanged himself at home. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Pravachan succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered at the Balehonnur police station.
