Fatal shooting in Omaha’s Benson area being investigated as homicide

A homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Tuesday night that left a man dead.

Officers responded to the area of 57th and Hamilton around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting.

One man was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police believe robbery was a factor in the shooting. They ask anyone with information to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP or submit tips online on the P3 Tips mobile app.

Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest in a homicide investigation are eligible for a $25,000 reward, OPD says.
