Following recent reports of unusual reactions and even deaths related to drug use, health officials in Northwestern Ontario are issuing a renewed reminder to the public that all drugs, even those more associated with recreational use, may contain other dangerous substances.

"We always want to get across the messaging that any unregulated drug is a risk, so don't assume anything you've bought from someone is safe and this applies to everyone in all walks of life," said Donna Stanley, director of health protection with the Northwestern Health Unit.

An advisory was issued by the Northwestern Health Unit earlier last week after it received reports in late October of people having unusual reactions and effects from using illicit drugs.

This has included several overdoses and deaths reported
