The pink, purple, green and yellow hues of the Northern Lights were visible to the naked eye Tuesday night across the Chicago area thanks to a powerful solar flare, with photos from the city to the suburbs capturing the brilliant colors of the Aurora.

You may be even be able to catch an encore of the show Wednesday night, the NBC 5 Storm Team said -- and before the sun rises Wednesday morning.

"There still very visible right now," NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman said at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday. NBC Chicago's camera pointing east from New Trier High School in Winnetka captured the sight, and the colors are expected to be visible until sunrise, set for about 6:36 a.m.
