TRAVERSE CITY — Three new commissioners joined the Traverse City Commission, and the board has a new mayor pro tem.

The second decision came after some debate Monday between newly re-elected Mayor Amy Shamroe and Commissioner Jackie Anderson over who should get the role. While Anderson stood up and addressed the board during public comment to argue for someone with experience, Shamroe nominated Laura Ness, newly sworn in that night.
