The Insurance Ombudsman Day 2025 took place in Bhubaneswar on November 11. The event highlighted the institution’s role in resolving insurance-related grievances quickly and effectively.

The Government of India established 18 Insurance Ombudsman offices across the country to provide free and speedy redressal of complaints, excluding crop insurance. The Insurance Ombudsman awards compensation up to Rs. 50 lakh, and insurance companies comply with its orders under the law.

The Bhubaneswar office resolved 1341 complaints during the 2024-25 financial year. Officials confirmed that they settled all cases within 60 days, well before the mandated 90-day deadline. Companies and complainants also resolved many disputes through mutual agreement.
