HUNTSVILLE — On Tuesday afternoon, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) spoke to reporters about the record-length government shutdown and its direct connection to Democratic hatred of President Donald Trump.

The lawmaker noted that the continuing resolution Republicans unsuccessfully introduced to keep the government open was passed by Democrats more than a dozen times during the Biden administration. Strong said the difference this time came down to one factor.

"There was no sense in this government shutdown. Thirteen times Democrats and Republicans had voted together under the Biden administration to do a clean CR, and for some reason, they hate Donald Trump with every fiber in them," Strong said.
