Police presence reported on Madison's east side

MADISON, Wis. -- A heavy police presence was reported in an apartment on Madison's East side, early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at Garver Point Apartments on Fair Oaks Avenue. Our crew at the scene saw multiple squad cars and fire trucks responded to the scene. They also observed forensics personnel taking photographs at the scene and residents being evacuated from the apartment complex. The investigation appeared to be active as of early Wednesday morning.

Madison police confirmed the response was triggered by an alarm but could not provide additional details about the nature of the incident. Authorities emphasized there is no threat to the public.
