BOSTON — After the game, in the coaches’ locker room, Bruins coach Marco Sturm marveled to assistant coach Chris Kelly about David Pastrnak.
They’d just seen the Bruins star score two goals, his 400th and 401st of his career. Pastrnak doesn’t turn 30 until after the season.
“He’s still young. He’s only 29. He has a lot of years left. A lot of goals left. It’s pretty impressive,” Sturm said. “We talked about it in the coaches room after the game. He still has a lot of goals left in him. It’s going to be great to see in the future to see with how many he’s going to end up. Four hundred goals. I told Kells, that’s more than I and you had together.”
He laughed.
“Including practice.”
Practice stats notwithstanding, Sturm is right. His 242 career goals and Kelly’s 123 are already 26
