The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that nine million pensioners in England and Wales will start seeing Winter Fuel Payments of up to £300 land in their bank account from today (November 12). Payments will appear on statements and online banking with the recipient’s National Insurance number followed by ‘DWP WFP’, helping people to identify it safely.
From the end of this month, nearly 900,000 older people in Scotland will receive the devolved equivalent through the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment . These payments will be issued automatically by Social Security Scotland, not DWP.
DWP also said payments of either £100, £200 or £300 will be made between now and December. The amount pensioners are paid will be dependent on whether they live as
