The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man killed in a weekend shooting on the West Side.

Zachary James Owens, 23, died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a homicide.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 4:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of Culebra Road on Nov. 8.

Upon arrival, officers found Owens lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Owens was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary SAPD report, witnesses reported seeing a man dressed in all black fleeing the area on foot.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
