The Supreme Court on Wednesday heard a case regarding air quality index (AQI) reaching dangerous levels and pollution in Delhi-NCR. The court has sought reports from Punjab and Haryana governments about what steps have been taken so far to stop stubble burning.

Senior advocate Gopal Shankaranarayanan said that currently the third phase of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-3) is in effect, while GRAP-IV should be implemented because AQI has gone above 450 in some places.

He said, GRAP-3 is in effect but excavation work is happening even outside the court, at least this should not happen in the court premises. On this, the CJI said that action will be taken regarding construction activities.
