A wave of protest broke out today after the State Sports Council issued a controversial circular announcing that from January 2026, guardians of athletes training at the NSRCC (Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre) in Agartala will have to pay Rs.100 per month to sit inside the complex during practice sessions.

The notice, released yesterday by the Tripura State Sports Council, has triggered strong reactions among parents and guardians of young sportspersons. Many have criticized the decision as commercializing a public sports facility and termed it unjust and insensitive to families who already bear the cost of training and equipment.
