Malice launches on Prime Video on November 14 and the eagerly-awaited thriller features comedian Jack Whitehall as "manny" Adam Healey.
The male childcarer begins employment with an affluent family, though he harbours a hidden agenda.
During a Q&A session, Whitehall and Wood discussed with Reach publications and other media why the comedian was ideal for the part.
James revealed: "There is a mini genre of comedians playing baddies and I think Adam could have been played by an established genre actor, but I think with Jack in the role, it just becomes something else.
"I know him fairly well and we wanted the family to really believe in Adam as a 'manny', and Jack is incredibly charming and funny and presents as the perfect 'manny'." View 2 Images
