A 17-year-old is set to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Central Berkshire District Court on a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of another teen late last month.

Sergio Ponce is charged with murder in connection with the death of Brodie Slonski, the Berkshire County District Attorney’s office said in a statement. Ponce is being charged as an adult even though he is a minor — state law requires anyone over the age of 14 be prosecuted as an adult when charged with first or second degree murder.

Ponce is the second person to face charges in connection with the shooting . Eighteen-year-old Jaequan Spratling is also charged with murder and faces an additional charge of attempted armed robbery. He was arraigned last week.
