The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking the transfer of the investigation into the alleged death by suicide of Haryana-cadre Indian Police Service officer Y Puran Kumar to the Central Bureau of Investigation, Live Law reported.
Kumar was found dead at his residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 11 on October 7. The police said he died by suicide.
In a “ final note ” recovered from the scene, Puran Kumar had named 11 serving and retired officers, including Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur and Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, accusing them of caste-based discrimination.
