PORTLAND, Ore. — The man shot and killed in an incident on the 9900 block of North Whitaker Road, Portland, on Sunday, November 2, has been identified as 49-year-old Robert Lee Mathis Jr.

North Precinct officers received a call about the shooting at 9.55 p.m., and when they arrived on the scene, they found Mathis lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

The police administered first aid while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, but, despite their efforts, Mathis died on the scene.
