Motorists are facing delays on a major motorway this afternoon with both carriageways having been closed and emergency services at the scene.
A driver of a light goods vehicle is understood to have had a "medical episode" on the M6 in Cumbria and an air ambulance had to land, National Highways said. The motorway is closed northbound between junction 42 and junction 43.
Cumbria Police, Ambulance and the Air Ambulance were alerted to the incident and traffic was held southbound to assist the emergency services working at the scene. National Highways said: "A full closure is in place northbound while Cumbria Police remain at the scene and have confirmed investigation work will not be required. They are hoping to reopen the northbound carriageway soon." 15:50 KEY EVENT
