Waymo will begin offering autonomous rides on local freeways to some customers, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to integrate driverless technology on the roads.
The company — owned by Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google — is launching highway access for a select faction of robotaxi riders who have signed up as so-called "trusted testers" in its ride-sharing app.
