Council heard that the city intends to apply for more funding support through the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Connecting Links program, this time to support the reconstruction of Brookdale Avenue from Ninth to Fourteenth streets.

The reconstruction of that section of Brookdale Avenue is estimated to cost $4.5 million. The Connecting Links funding envelope covers up to 90 per cent of costs to a maximum of $5 million for road projects and $7 million for bridge projects. This means the city could receive up to $4,050,000 to support this part of the project.

Any remaining amount, should the application be successful, would be funded from the 2027 capital budget.
